The 2025 BMW i4 is a sedan model with a max range of nearly 320 miles per charge — and a starting price of around $54,000. Meanwhile, the 2025 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is a luxury model in every sense of the word, with a starting price of around $113,000 and a majorly sporty performance despite its size.

The Volvo XC90 Hybrid is a plug-in hybrid SUV that starts at around $73,000 and can go for an Environmental Protection Agency-estimated 58 miles per gallon and 32 miles of battery-only driving. Meanwhile, the Dodge Charger Daytona EV is a true muscle car, starting at just under $62,000 and getting up to an EPA-estimated 308 miles of range.

Self-driving cars have long promised to change how we get around, but with most major brands now deploying some kind of semi-autonomous tech in certain vehicles, it’s becoming much closer to a reality.

The Aspark Owl currently holds the record for the world’s fastest EV, accelerating from 0 to 60 in 1.72 seconds and hitting a top speed of more than 272 miles per hour. Meanwhile, the Rimac Nevera, which previously held the title, can accelerate from 0 to 60 in 1.74 seconds and has hit 258 miles per hour in testing.

Whether autonomous driving is considered a selling point or a deterrent for consumers is up in the air, but the push in that direction is here for the time being, with startups and major car companies investing heavily in self-driving technology.

Both SUVs come with extremely high ratings — a 9.5 out of 10 from Car and Driver for their class.

Chinese EVs, including those from auto giant BYD, are gaining traction in Asia, Europe, and Australia due to their cheap sticker prices and impressive tech features — but these cars aren’t yet available in the U.S.

Tesla’s position in the EV market isn’t as firm as it once was, and with competition coming from Europe, China, and beyond, the automaker may face a more complicated landscape in the coming years.
