Why It Matters
Although it may seem unrealistic, NASA has ambitious plans to begin building on the moon in 2027. Robots will land first to test the power and communications systems and see what works. Then, the plan is for semipermanent habitats and infrastructure, and eventually, a permanent base for humans.
