How long do you have to run your faucet before the water gets hot?

Why It Matters

Kitchen faucets typically have a flow rate of around two gallons per minute, so it’s easy to waste a few gallons a day if you have to wait for hot water. That can add up on your water bill, and in areas experiencing drought, that water is especially valuable.
